Three Lumevi Customers Recognized for Innovation at IT Awards Gala

In the Fall of 2021, three of our clients distinguished themselves by their innovative spirit and patient-care initiatives. one of them, CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre, was a finalist at the most recent Gala des Prix TI (IT Awards Gala) in the Établissement de santé novateur (Innovative Healthcare Facility) category. CHUM/UMHC: Patient Experience at the Heart of Innovation

Note: CHUM stands for Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (translated as University of Montreal Health Centre, or UMHC) and is one of the largest hospitals in Canada.

The CHUM Endoscopy department has taken steps to modernize its processes to better meet the needs of patients and their families. Thanks to a common vision, mobilizing leadership, and agile and scalable processes, concrete improvements have been made on three levels.

The appointment process is now personalized for all clients via web portal, email, or phone. In addition, patient care at the reception desk is streamlined with the installation of electronic kiosks. Finally, staff members have increased mobility with new Wi-Fi carts. Lumevi is very proud to have collaborated on and supported this project with the eVisit module of its Lumevi Hospital Information System (eClinibase) solution as well as its Lumevi Electronic Document Management (EDM) solution.

This project has yielded tangible results and benefits for the CHUM Endoscopy department and its patients. Outcomes include significant decreases in the average length of stay, the rate of out-of-time examinations, and the rate of no-shows. Additionally, 96% of patients said they felt safe in the Endoscopy department, 87% of staff said they worked less overtime, and 17% said they were more productive.

CISSS de Lanaudière: Intelligent Use of Data

Note: CISSS stands for Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (translated as Integrated Health and Social Services Centre). Lanaudière is a region in Québec, Canada.

The CISSS de Lanaudière wanted to acquire a business intelligence solution that would centralize clinical and administrative data in order to streamline communication within its facility, enhance patient care and the effectiveness of care provider actions, and optimize decision-making for managers.

By implementing the Lumevi Data Visualization (Intellium) and Lumevi Data Management (ContinuumCore) solutions, the facility was able to get a clear picture of the quality of care and patient well-being while empowering administrators and providers with actionable insights to improve patient outcomes. Centralizing admitted patient information provides better visibility to clinical and administrative profiles, while infusing intelligence into workflows and processes in order to improve coordination and accelerate care.

The use of data for communication, transparency and service optimization is also facilitated via dashboards displayed on a large screen for emergency physicians. By providing a clear, real-time integrated picture of the emergency room and care unit status, the dashboards enable enhanced coordination of medical care.

CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre: Redcap Project

Note: CISSS stands for Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (translated as Integrated Health and Social Services Centre). Montérégie is a region in Québec, Canada.

The Redcap Project at the CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre supports the goal to promote out-of-hospital care for certain patients aged 65 and over. In a collaboration between the Centre de communication santé de la Montérégie (Groupe Alerte-Santé) and the community paramedic, users of a targeted group who contact 911 for an ambulance transport may be visited at home by an integrated community paramedic (ICP). The ICP travels in a dedicated vehicle and can assess the level of care a person needs, as well as the appropriate time frame for their care. In collaboration with a Home Support Service (HSS) nurse and, if necessary, a responding physician, the ICP makes a referral recommendation to the user for transportation to the emergency room or another care alternative.

If the user’s health condition allows for alternative care and the patient concurs, the HSS nurse, in collaboration with the ICP, plans the required services – perhaps an appointment with the family physician or at a clinic. Regardless of the direction chosen, the patient will receive a visit from an HSS nurse in their living environment within a maximum of 24 hours.

In the first six months of the project’s operation, ICPs performed 245 in-home assessments, for which 54% of emergency room transports were avoided. Satisfaction surveys show that 98% of patients who have benefited from this out-of-hospital care are satisfied or very satisfied.

The project was made possible by a collaboration with Lumevi and other partners. The Lumevi Emergency Redirect solution streamlines the triage process and increases overall patient satisfaction.
